Founded 1853 in Rochester, New York by optician John Bausch and financed by Henry Lomb, it was one of the oldest continually operating companies in the United States, which was publicly traded on New York Stock Exchange before being acquired by the private equity firm Warburg Pincus in 2007. The company was then sold to the Canadian company Bausch Health in 2013. As of 2022, the company employs about 12,900 people. [3]
